WHO WE ARE
Word Lock is made by Reeltime Apps Limited. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at contact@reelshot.co.uk.
THE SHORT VERSION
Word Lock barely touches your data. The only thing stored on your device is a local list of puzzle words you've recently seen — so you don't get the same clue twice. We don't know who you are, we don't track you, and we don't sell anything.
WHAT DATA WE COLLECT
What stays on your device
When you solve puzzles, Word Lock keeps a record of the words you've recently seen. This is stored locally on your iPhone using iOS's standard UserDefaults system. It never leaves your device. It's purely there to keep your puzzles fresh.
What gets sent anonymously to our servers
When you attempt a puzzle, we log that attempt (e.g. whether it was solved, how many tries it took) in our database. This data has no user ID, account, or any identifier attached to it. We genuinely cannot tell whose attempt is whose — it's anonymous by design.
What gets sent to our AI provider
To generate crossword clues, we send the puzzle word to Anthropic's Claude API. For example, if your puzzle word is "RIVER", we ask Claude to generate a clue for that word. We send only the word itself — nothing about you, your device, or your behaviour. Anthropic processes this to return a clue, and that's it.
What we do not collect
To be explicit about what we don't do:
- No name, email address, or any personal identifier
- No location data
- No health or fitness data
- No camera, microphone, or contacts access
- No advertising or analytics SDKs
- No login or account required
- No payment information
HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
Recently seen words — stored on your device only — so you don't get the same puzzle twice.
Anonymous puzzle attempts — stored in our Supabase database — to understand how the app is being used and improve it.
Puzzle words (clue generation) — sent to Anthropic's API — to generate crossword clues using AI.
We don't use your data for advertising, profiling, or anything beyond making the app work well.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Anthropic (Claude AI)
We use Anthropic's Claude API to generate crossword clues. Only the puzzle word is sent — no personal information. Anthropic has its own privacy policy which you can read at anthropic.com/privacy.
Supabase
We use Supabase to store anonymous puzzle attempt data. There are no user accounts and no identifiers. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.
We do not use any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or other third-party data services.
DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
On-device data (recently seen words): Stored on your device until you delete the app, at which point it's gone.
Anonymous puzzle attempts: Stored in our Supabase database. Because this data is fully anonymous, it cannot be linked back to you.
YOUR RIGHTS
Because we don't collect personal data or create user accounts, most data rights (access, correction, deletion) don't apply in a traditional sense — we simply don't have a profile on you to share or delete.
If you'd like us to stop logging anonymous puzzle attempts from your device, just delete the app. There's nothing else to request.

CHILDREN
Word Lock is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we make meaningful changes to this policy — for example, if we add accounts or start collecting new types of data — we'll update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users in the app.
